Hi
I am a UK resident and am buying an Italian registered and EU VAT paid boat in Greece. The boat has been in the EU all it’s life and on Brexit day. When I complete the purchase, I imagine I have to cancel the Italian registration, and register it in the UK ? therefore what would be the VAT implications, and as it is a EU Vat paid boat, do I need to take it out the EU to say Turkey every 18 months? If I then apply for the Digital Nomad Visa, would this have any implications as it is not a residency permit, just a 12 month Visa
I have not had to deal with Brexit issues so suggest you make a public post asking questions related to it. Particularly the VAT issues.
If the VAT remains valid – the boat has not been absent from the EU Customs zone for more than 3 years and you have the original receipts then I think you are good to go. No 18 month out-and-back trips for you.
Re the Digital Nomad Visa – a visa has nothing to do with Tax Residency. Tax Residency depends (generally) on how much time you have spent in the country. Typically > 183 days means you are a tax resident. Regardless of visa.
Hope that helps.
